One step.

Last week I introduced a dream of mine in this post about how I would like to start a fitness group of some sort where I can encourage moms to set an exercise goal of and motivate them along way until they reach achievement. I was blown away by the kind words of encouragement and excitetment I received through your comments and some texts (thanks Dad!). You all sure do know how to make a girl feel good! Thank you! I am very excited to see what will come out of me actually saying my dream aloud. Still a bit nervous yes but that keeps me humbled and reminds me that this dream is from God and not my own. I know anything that will come out of it will be His doing and me following in obedience. So let’s GO!

As I also mentioned I am not alone in this whole dreaming big thing. I have 99 new friends that are doing the same thing through Holley Gerth’s God-sized Dream Team. This week’s assignment is to share one step we took towards our dream. I am thrilled to share I have an exciting opportunity that pretty much fell into my lap after sharing my dream last week. My friend and fellow God-sized dreamer, Stacey Thacker commented on my post and said she had an idea for me that she thinks would fit my dream. Well that she did! Along with many other amazing things Stacey has going on right now (like this amazing book you have to read which she co-authored) she happens to be the (in)courage group coordinator. (in)courage has developed community groups based on stage of life, interests and other connectors where you can build deep, meaningful friendship beyond comments on blog posts. For the first time they are starting a fitness community group and I was asked to co-lead the group! So yes, I can officially say I am an (in)courager! The session will begin February 12 and run through April 28. I will have a co-leader and we are working on exactly what this group will look like. But you can be assured that you will meet other women who, like you want to make fitness a priority. And you can be sure I will be SO excited to help you move one step closer in achieving your fitness goals. If you would like more information about joining this group or any of the (in)courage community groups go HERE.

There it is. I took the plunge to say aloud what I have been thinking for so long and once I did an opportunity gets plopped in my lap. Maybe this dreaming thing isn’t so bad after all! Did you take a step, even the tiniest one towards your God-sized dream? Tell me! I want to hear all about it!

Showcase Yourself!

If your kids are like mine they make ALOT of crafts and special projects in a short amount of time. And of course they ALL are VERY IMPORTANT! Of course I don’t want to just throw them away (at least not right away) but I also don’t want 27 princess watercolor pictures and every rocket math test taped to my wall. So I saw something on Pinterest and then added my own little twist and came up with this.

I picked up these three frames at Goodwill for $2-$3. I painted them with colors I had on hand. I bought 3 clipboards at Michaels for $3 each. I thought the clipboards needed a little something so I added a little color with some decorative tape that you’ll find in any craft store. I hung the frames first then centered the clipboards. Note: Make sure you buy frames big enough for the clipboards to fit inside. Here’s a close up of Kaia’s.

The idea is that each child has their own clipboard. They can hang whatever special picture they want on their board. When they want to change it we decide whether it’s a keeper in Mommy’s special box (I like to save some of their stuff) or if we are done with it. This is done with gentle nudging one way or the other. Or sometimes I just don’t know where papers went, if you know what I mean. My attempt is to eliminate the piles of papers that inevitably gather around the house. We’ll see if my idea works. In the meantime I think this is a cute way to display their work and it gives them some ownership over their own board.

Oh and if you are wondering, that picture of Kaia’s is of Mason, Theia and herself with a sunshine and rainbow. That is her first rainbow she drew by herself. Big time. Very proud.

How do you handle all of the special projects in your house?

He’s a reader.

He's a reader and I love it.

Somehow, someway with some tears along the way we have turned the corner and Mason LOVES to read. Dare I say there have been times I have found him sitting on his bed, alone reading a book. What?!? I know. If you have experienced the energy of Mason in person you may not believe this but it’s true! The moments when Mason is still, quiet and by himself are rare but when it happens, I love it!

Love his heart to learn and soak in more and more information about all the things he loves. Love that he is getting older and becoming more of his own person, though it tugs at my heart too.

Love this picture of my boy. And I love him.

Proud to be his momma.

God-sized Dream Revealed.

You know that dream that you have tucked away in heart that you think about and dream about when you lay in bed at night? You know the one that you think you’ll do “someday”, when life slows down (never gonna happen), when the kids get older or when God puts the neon sign in front of you that says NOW!

Well I do know that dream, it’s my own dream that I have been mulling over for sometime now. But like you, I kept it hidden in the back of my mind and only mentioned here and there to a couple people. I told myself “someday” or on other not so confident in myself days “I could never do that!” Then I came across an invitation to apply for a team of dreamers if you will. I applied and was chosen with 99 other women who are willing dream along with me. I am excited and honored to be a part of Holley Gerth’s God-sized Dream Team. It’s a group of women who are dreaming like me and wanting and willing to take the next step with their dream. We encourage and keep each other accountable in taking the next step, whatever it may be. Today our next step is sharing our God-sized dream with you!

So here I am, sharing my dream with YOU.

My dream is to create a space where I can encourage and motivate others to set, work through and accomplish fitness goals.

I am encourager. I am an athlete. I am a hard worker and enjoy setting goals and achieving them.  Whether it be online or in person it would be a joy for me to see and help others do the same.

I would love to offer services that inspire women toward greater health and fitness through running and conditioning workouts.

So there it is. Whew! My heart is pounding friends!

Every Tuesday I’ll be sharing more about God-sized dream. I’m excited to have you along with me. I would love to hear your feedback. I would also LOVE to hear YOUR God-sized dream. Because I know you have one. Everyone has a God-sized dream, you may just have not discovered yet! If you want to hear what others are dreaming about along with Holley Gerth check it out here!

God-sized dreams aren’t really about size at all–they’re about embracing and pursuing the desires God has placed within your heart that perfectly fit who you are. God-sized dreams are part of your purpose and they lead to more joy, meaning, and hope in your life. -Holley Gerth

2013…welcome!

Well there it is, my word for 2013. I chose this word because it’s a reminder for me that I have a lot of choices to make day in, day out. Choices in how I spend my time, energy and money. Who I spend my time with. How I parent, how I respond to situations, trials, changes. I have the power to choose my actions, my words, my attitude. I also know that my choices influence others, especially those 3 little ones whose eyes are always on me. I don’t want to take my choices lightly. I want to prayerfully choose wisely in 2013.

2012 had some twists and turns for our family. We learned, we grew and we failed at times. But we also experienced great successes and many blessings. For 2013 we are anticipating some big changes on the horizon. Changes that are a little scary but ones we are ready for. There will be many opportunities for me to choose in 2013. My prayer is that I will choose HIS best for me and our family.

So there it is. Do you have a word for 2013?

oh it’s just around the corner.

So yes, we just finished Thanksgiving and I hate to rush past it because it is my favorite holiday but truth be told friends Christmas season is upon us.  Each year I get my decorations out and I am less and less thrilled. So what do I do? I go to pinterest and see what I can make with what I have or spending very little moolah. Here is what I am thinking so far…

Just ideas for now…but I love creating new things each season for our home.

What are you creating this Christmas to make your home merry and bright?

a gift of thanks.

I’m sending Mason off to school this morning with a little gift of thanks to his teacher. She is kind, understanding and a fun teacher. All things high on our list for a teacher for Mason. We are thankful for her!

Realizing this isn’t the best picture and the fact I didn’t take “how to” pics of this little craft it is simple gift that I think you all can handle. These are coaters that only took me 10 min to make and a short list of 3 supplies.

I bought square tiles at Lowe’s for 31cents. I got black but you can get any color. Cut squares from cute scrapbook paper that I had on hand and then covered the tiles and scrapbook paper with Modge Podge. I did two layers of Modge Podge to give it a little more protection. Very easy and rather cute if I do say so myself. This could be a great Christmas gift for a teacher, friend, neighbor or relative.

I feel it’s important to tell people in your life you are thankful for them. Who are you thankful for today?
