Just last Saturday, somewhere around mile 8 of my 17 mile run did it hit me that I am going to be running a marathon! I’ve been training since the summer sometime, following a schedule as best I can with the realities of our travels this summer and just everyday life with 3 little ones and an husband that is important to me. But really it just hit me like a ton of bricks that I am actually going to do this…and soon! October 18 to be exact. It was so real that I imagined myself crossing the finishing line and seeing Brian and I actually started tearing up! I’m excited and nervous and to be honest I’m looking forward to it being over, at least the training part. It’s starting to take a toll on my body. I remember this from the first time I trained for the Columbus marathon I ran in college. But that was 11 years and 3 babies ago and my body is a little different now to say the least:)
So tonight I will be laying out my running outfit along with my shotblocks to eat along the way and aquaphore for chaffing, putting new songs of my shuffle, charging my beloved Garmin watch and setting my alarm for 5AM to be on the road by 5:30. Thankfully 2 hours and 45 min (give or take) and 18 miles later I will be home. And have the rest of the day to revel in the fact that I am that much closer to my goal. And the rest of the day to limp around the house because of my tired legs!
amen! My legs are so done afterward. But keep it up!! We’re almost there
