silent mornings.

I often start my morning running in darkness. Only some street lamps and the moon shining. If I am lucky I can see the stars twinkling high above. I have come to really love this morning time. It’s quiet. Really the only quiet time of my whole day. I soak it in. I think, I plan, I dream, I talk to him and he listens. And I listen in the silence. It is more than a run in the darkness. It’s my time. Just a sliver of the day that it’s just me and him before the rest of my world awakes. Oh it’s so good.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of wintesses , let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so close, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews12:1-2

  1. To have that time away from the little ones, the internet, the chores…seems you have to get out of the house to have that kind of solitude. Your description here is so inviting that it’s almost enough to turn me into a morning person.

  2. Yes, come be a morning person! And then maybe I can turn you into a runner!

  3. Good Evenin’ Aubrey,
I loved this sharing… perhaps it’s because I love God and running in the morning too! :) I hoping to get out for a 5 miler in the mornin’. That gives me plenty of morning quiet time to hear Him. ~ Blessings sister, Amy
